Work-life balance is a high priority here at Chatsworth and our HR team works hard to ensure schedules are balanced and manageable, but sometimes life and work can still get stressful. This was the perfect to opportunity step back and learn some helpful tips on how to prevent and manage stress.
We started the session by learning how to identify potential burnout on the horizon and the different symptoms that different people can experience when they are stressed, whether that’s having trouble sleeping or experiencing headaches. Prevention is always better than cure, so knowing when burnout might be approaching is a useful tool for busy life.
Secondly, we talked about different coping mechanisms and using a tap metaphor, we discussed different releases that can help to alleviate stress. Some of the favourite releases among the Chatsworth team are exercise, cooking and socialising with friends.
In today’s information-heavy world, the average person consumes about 34 gigabytes of data every day, estimated to be the equivalent to 100,000 words heard or read every day. Add in a communications role, where writing commentary and op-eds takes up much of the day, we are likely processing even more, so it is especially important that we are able to identify stress in its early stages and have useful coping mechanisms on hand to ensure we can alleviate it.
Thanks very much to Luminate for such a useful and interesting session.
