As the industry-led body representing UK-based financial and related professional services, TheCityUK plays a central role in championing a sector that is vital to the UK’s growth, competitiveness and international standing.
This year’s flagship conference will bring together around 300 senior industry leaders, policymakers and regulators for a focused discussion on competitiveness, growth and the future of UK financial and professional services.
A key highlight will be a keynote address from the Rt Hon Kemi Badenoch MP, Leader of the Opposition. The Conservative leader is expected to set out how a future government led by her would seek to leverage the City of London as a central driver of UK economic growth.
According to reports in City AM, Badenoch is expected to argue that the City has not been properly championed by successive governments, while calling for bold structural reform and a more confident approach to investment, regulation and risk.
Her remarks are expected to touch on the UK’s capital markets, business investment and productivity, themes that remain central to the wider debate on growth and competitiveness.
The event comes at a critical moment for the sector. Sessions and panels will explore how technology is redefining the competitive landscape for financial and related professional services, the steps needed to simplify and modernise regulatory supervision, and how innovation can drive growth through policy, regulation and capital markets.
These discussions sit within a broader modernisation programme for the City, from the government’s Wholesale Digital Markets work under Chris Woolard CBE to firms preparing for T+1 settlement and the wider upgrading of the UK’s financial market infrastructure.
With insights from expert speakers and drawing on findings and recommendations from TheCityUK’s No Time to Lose report, the conference will examine how the UK can strengthen its position as a leading global financial centre.
Other event highlights include a welcome from Miles Celic OBE, Chief Executive Officer of TheCityUK, and an address from Anne Richards DBE, Chair of TheCityUK’s Leadership Council, alongside speakers from a range of leading firms, including Nasdaq, Bloomberg and Hogan Lovells.
Chatsworth will be exhibiting at this year’s conference, and our team is looking forward to connecting with industry leaders, policymakers, regulators and journalists attending on the day.
We will also be discussing our recent Fintech 100 Leadership Survey, which found that fintech leaders remain upbeat about the sector and the UK’s growth prospects, while also highlighting the growing battle to win the trust of investors, customers and partners.
